I told my parents when I call them and my father told me again that he wants me to think twice about going. Actually, I am tempted to go but if I can't get the approval from my Dad, I might just give up on it. Then again, I am waiting for my fren to get his interview as well as one of my fren who is currently applying for INSTEP(gal, you know who you are..)We shall wait and see if I will be writing from Seattle next Jan.
Today is our last day of work for the week because having lessons at Fudan tomorrow. We decided to treat ourselves and have good food. We went to Ren Min Guang Chang and ate at Babela. It is an italian restaurant which serve nice food. Will upload the pic as soon as I get them. We ate pizza, pasta...... and guess what, we only paid 20 yuan or 4 SGD. Had a sumptuous dinner. Wanted to go chill out at Bar Rouge but we spent too much time eating so guess we will head there the next time round. It is a must go. Opening @Regent

Sat night was the Opening of the Singaporean Overseas Portal. It is a new programme set up by the government to like Singaporeans all over the world so that though they are far away from home, they are still connected to Singapore. It was held at Regent Hotel and the Guest Of Honour was DPM Wong Ka Seng. We managed to take a photo with him and interacted for a while. He is a very frenly guy, asking us about our lives here. And we got to eat Singaporean food ever since we got here. Food from BreadTalk, BakersInn, and many more Shanghai based Singapore restuarant. We had free flow of wine too, quite a grand occasion with big bosses around. Managed to interact with some. Just before we left, we saw this group of students from NUS, also here for exchange. We stayed in the ballroom till they chased us out, ha, it was quite an amusing sight. We exchanged number and hope to meet up soon. Overall, a pleasant experience.

First day at Fudan

Wow, ha, someone complaining that I am not blogging anymore, ha, don't worry, will blog more frquently this week. Last week don't really have time to blog because I have to presentation for my company on one of the projects that I am working on. Just finish the presentation on Thursday so can take a break now.ha, finish the report too.

Today, it was my first day at Fudan University. Humm was pretty excited to go to school but had to drag myself off bed because have been sleeping at 1 am, ha. Woke up at 7am and board the bus at 8am (today have chartered bus, only today, from tomorrow onwards, we have to take a 1 1/2 hrs bus ride there) We went to the school campus and was surprised by the building that we are going to study in. We are studying in a building that is 33 storeys high. It looks more like the empire state building, will try and upload the photos as soon as possible. When you guys see it, you will be surprised. We had a lesson on Kong Zi today, humm, had hard time trying to understand all the terms, how? My chinese standard is really not as good , ha, all about 仁。Quite interesting after understanding it, but think i have to go and do research on China's history.

Will be going to the Opening of the Singapore Portal where our Deputy Prime minister will be gracing the occasion. Quite interested to find out what the proceedings will be like and what he would be saying during his speech. Ok, will update soon.See ya!

Vex about GIP US!!!!

The dateline is this coming friday and I still don't know if I should apply for GIP US.My prof has emailed and ask me about the trip to Georgia Tech University in Seattle. I know that it is a one in a lifetime opportunity and I too hope to experience something different. But I don't know if I will be able to cope being one year away from home. And most importantly, my father is against the idea of me going. Very vexed and frustrated now!!!!!!!! Should I apply first and decide later? (but the thing is, my father don't even want me to apply) My mum asked me yesterday if I will be homesick?(I seriously don't know, I can't foresee the future) On the other hands, my frens told me that I should go. Anyone of you have a solution to it ??Maybe you can enlighten me..........

National Day celebration

I had a comment from my fren that my blog is very boring, well, because there is no gossip and stuff. But just to let her know, I will still be writing on my trip, haha, don't think there will be any juicy stuff.(Don't mind me k,WM?)

Did not really have the chance to update my blog because the internet was down for a couple of days. The connection here is very unstable and we get disconnected all the time. Anyway, now that I have the internet, I must make use of this chance to update my blog.Firstly, we decided to celebrate National Day on Wednesday 9th of Aug by having steamboat. It was a very fun and high day. After work, we went to get the ingredients at the wet market. It was our first time as we were told that the stuff there is less hygenic but still decided to do so because it is cheap. After that we proceeded to Metro to buy a cake. Unfortunately, the baker left so we had to change our plan. We bought assorted ice cream instead, from cones to stick to machi. You name it, we bought it,haha.

When we went back home, I started cooking with one of my flatmate Eliza. Made the base with white cabbage and stuff, anyway, the food turned out good. The fun part wasn't the food , though it was excellent. We started getting high when we sang all the national songs that my fren downloaded from NDP website.(Couldn't watch NDP because connection is bad). We were soo crazy that we saluted to the national anthem and even recited the pladge. And how can we miss on the Kallang Wave and Singapore cheer. We were having soo much fun that our neighbours came to get us to lower our volume, haha, so you guys can tell how loud we were. That did not deter us from partying, we continued with other games till we were tired. And we ended the whole thing by having ice cream. The machi was heavenly, very smooth and refreshing.

Celebrating National Day abraod it a very new experience for me. Back in Singapore, it might be just any public holiday, but when you are abroad, it feels different. My frens got emtional , saying that it makes them miss home. On the other hand, National day made me reflect about my status as a Singaporean. Suddenly, I am proud of the little island that most pp neglect on the map. Guess only when you are away, you will appreciate things that you normally don't. It makes you look at things with a different perspective. Its like seeing light for the first time after being blind.

ANyway, was very happy last night because the internet came on at about 9pm. I manage to call my mum and Miss Ng. We talked till 1am in the morning. Really miss talking to them so was beaming when I knew that I could skype. Hope that everyone is doing fine back in S'pore.Have a nice day ahead.

5 weeks here and more to go

wow, time really flies and its been a month or so since I came to Shanghai and pp back in S'pore, well, it is about time for you guys to return to school, haha, I know you guys dread it, but well, part of life so just put on a smile and march on.As for me, humm, nothing much happen this week,so guess will update you guys about some of the places tt I went to. I visited Jing An Si on thursday night. It is something like our Taka, where you can find all the high end goods like Burberry, Prada......The view there is like Orchard road but one interesting stuff that you will notice is that there are many bakery over there. As you walk along the street, you can see all sorts of brand of bakery such as Fresh and Breadtalk lookalike. However, as we continued walking, we came to this alley, that looks like Bugis Village. Things there are pretty cheap, like a Billabong cap is going for 30yuan (of course it is fake, but looks genuine) and they also have AnF shirts that are going at a low price. Oh, and getting a neoprint here is just 1SGD, ha you can get exclusive service because there will be a person serving you. There are many places to shop at Jing An Si and many manicure for you to do your nails. They are all over the place. (Quite a sight!)

Next day (yesterday), I went to explore Ren Min Guang Chang myself. It was really a very different feeling because it is the first time that I am moving about Shanghai myself. Suddenly, felt refreshing.I finally had time to myself, don't have to entertain anyone, just having the time to myself. Walk at my own pace, do things I like and don't have to compromise. Pp around me love shopping and we have been doing so ever since we reached Shanghai.(As u guys know, I am not really a shopping person)So I took time off to the biggest bookstore in Shanghai(7 storey), getting some nutrients for my brain ha. The place is suppose to be posh like Kino but to my disappointment, it looks a bit like out Popular book store. Nontheless, I stood at the foreign section for 3 hours reading magazines from Fortune to Newsweek to People's magazine. After which, felt recharged. The design at the foreign section is a bit better and they have nice background music, very soothing to the ears. Guess, I will be going there pretty often.

In the night, went out with my frens to Xin Tian Di for a drink. Wanted to feel tha atmosphere there because it is known to the the ClarkQuey of Shanghai. It is a high end place with posh restaurant, bars and clubs. However, the price there is the same as S'pore However, the ambience is different because the architecture of the place is very oriental. Mostly you can see shophouses. We went into a German pub to have finger food and a drink. The mood there is good because they have a live band playing nice music. There is even a plasma screen showing pp dancing on the dance floor. It was quite amusing looking at the way pp while they r dancing.Anyway, came back at 2 am yesterday. Slept till 10am in the morning and here I am updating my blog. (ThE rest of my housemate r still sleeping.............zzz) HAVE A NICE DAY!!!!!!!
